“When I first moved to Madison several years ago, I began nannying for a family and their baby girl. One day, the mother and I were discussing my passions and goals for the future when she said, “You should be a Doula!”. I can still hear her words ringing in my head and I get goosebumps thinking about it!
Bringing new life into this world is a miraculous moment and like nothing you will have experienced before. After the exciting blur of laboring and giving birth has passed, it’s not uncommon for parents to come to the overwhelming realization that raising this precious little soul is their sole responsibility! The good news is that you don’t have to do it alone. I believe that having consistent comfort and support in place for those first few weeks after your baby is born benefits the whole family. Simply put, taking good care of yourself makes you a better parent.
As a Postpartum Doula, it fills my cup to fill others’ cups, in whatever ways they need filling! The first thing I do when I arrive is ask, “What are YOU needing today?”. My clients get a non-judgement, listening ear and are offered guidance with basic infant care, lactation and feeding education, referrals to local resources, and the opportunity to rest and reset through sleep, nourishing food, and reassurance that they are doing a great job! Whether it’s a few hours sprinkled into your day, or providing a full 8 hours of restful sleep, I would be delighted to be there for you and your family.”
